The Graham Boeckh Foundation announces the recipient of the inaugural Dr. Samarthji Lal award for mental health research: Ridha Joober, MD, PhD, Associate Professor, McGill University; Psychiatrist and Principal Investigator, Douglas Hospital and Douglas Hospital Research Centre.
Dr. Joober was selected through an open, Canada-wide competition, followed by an international review. The review panel members were unanimous in their decision to rank Dr. Joober first among all nominations received for the 2011 award. The review panel’s selection was based on alignment with the award criteria and overall excellence of his nomination submission. Dr. Joober’s award was presented by the Boeckh family, Dr. Maureen Kiely (Lal), and by the Dr. Sam Lal award partners, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research – Institute of Neurosciences, Mental Health and Addiction (represented by its Scientific Director, Dr. Anthony G. Phillips); and the Canadian College of Neuropsycho-pharmacology (represented by its President, Dr. Marco Leyton).
Dr. Joober has chosen to direct his $25,000 prize to a patient program at the Douglas Hospital.
The Graham Boeckh Foundation congratulates Dr. Joober!
